You won’t go without your own share of hardships in life, but these challenges will shape you for the better if you face them head on. In fact, facing these challenges can even foster success within your business.
1. Negativity
Sometimes the challenge is really as simple as something going wrong in general. You’ve had a bad day or a situation didn’t end the way you expected it to. Whatever the specific obstacle, successful people find ways around this negativity and turn the odds in their favor.
2. The Ideals of Others
It’s not to say that you shouldn’t take criticism — in fact, sometimes what others think is the valuable information you need to see things in a different way. However, obsessing over how others view you is a challenge that we all face, but it’s one that we can move past and grow from. When you become invested in the thoughts of others, you waste valuable time and energy that could be devoted to something else.
3. Toxicity
No one succeeds on their own. Sometimes this means a positive team of family and friends have helped someone find the path to success. In other scenarios, this actually relates to how toxic people in a person’s life have helped them grow and move past that negativity to succeed regardless of this personal hindrance. Don’t continue to surround yourself with those who only bring negativity into your life.
4. Age
To you, age may be just a number — or it may be a massive hindrance that you’re secretly ashamed of. Prejudices and preconceptions exist on both ends of the age spectrum; from assuming a novice entrepreneur is nothing but a young upstart, to viewing older business partners as too archaic to stretch to modern ideals. How you handle your own age is what truly matters, and strong individuals prove their naysayers wrong.
5. Time
Do you obsess over past mistakes? Or maybe you frequently find yourself anxious about what the future holds? While these are human reactions, growth starts once you let go of these hindrances and instead focus on what’s going on in your life right now. The past is unchanging and the future is uncertain — when you accept these facts, you’ll grow and succeed.
6. Reality
It’s hard to turn on the television and not be upset by something or other. From famine to war, political turmoil to death, the real world is certainly a scary place. This negativity can cause people to catastrophize their perception on reality. They convince themselves that everything is horrible and we’re all on a path to self-destruction.
This brand of negativity is severe, but it’s not so devastating that you can’t work through it. The solution? Focusing on the positives that still exist in life. What are you grateful for? What can you do to spread happiness? How can you change this pattern of negativity and do some good in the world?
7. Fear
Finally, it’s true what they say about courage: it’s not the absence of fear, but how to work and succeed in spite of it. It’s alright to be afraid of life, of business, of the future — but what use is there in letting fear totally immobilize you in life? To be strong is to find a way to succeed even when you’re utterly afraid.
What’s the overall take away? Success can be yours…but only if you know how to find it. It’s not something that can simply fall into your lap — your mindset and outlook on life are determining factors in how successful you truly are.
